Youth Freestyle Series 2011
Welcome to the home of the Youth Freestyle Series. Like having fun and getting wet ? Read on .....
The Youth Freestyle series is a number of one-day events aimed at progressing white-water paddlers. It is open to any 18 and under paddlers with a fairly reliable white-water roll who want to improve their freestyle or white water paddling or who want to take part in a fun freestyle competition. It doesn't matter if you have no previous experience of competition or if you're on the GB team - the competition caters for all levels of paddler.
For a real flavour of what Youth Freestyle is all about, take a look at this video from World Champion James "Pringle" Bebbington and World Bronze medallist, Bren Orton.
22.08.11 Bib Amnesty
This is a quick request with regards our Youth Freestyle Bibs. Having found the time to sort out all our bibs, it turns out that we have lost 23 of our 150 bibs over the last 3 years. Please could you check your paddling kit to see if you ended up with one of our bibs?
Really not a problem if you have, we could just do with them back. They are not cheap to replace and if we keep going at this rate, we won’t have any left.
Missing Bib numbers: 148, 141, 126, 116, 103, 74, 70, 67, 65, 64, 63, 61, 52, 48, 45, 41, 34, 32, 29,, 20, 18, 16 & 15.
If you do find one, could you bring it back to the next event, or pop it in the post to Becky? Address: 22 White House Drive, York. YO24 3NS.
Many thanks, Becky, Mike & Matt.
New Sponsor
We are very happy to welcome a new sponsor to the Youth Freestyle Series - Duem Stuff.
Duem are the European manufacturers of quality good looking paddling gear.
The prizes donated by Duem are going mainly to non-sponsored, non-team paddlers. The Washburn saw a lot of Duem T-shirts awarded as spot prizes and there are further prizes for non-sponsored paddlers to be awarded at the Nottingham event including a spray deck, semi-dry paddling jacket and neo-shorts.
Photos Wanted! - New Photo GalleryWe would like to set up a photo gallery of each event and need your photos. Each gallery will contain up to 30 or 40 photos that best reflect the spirit of the Youth Freestyle events. The first gallery will be of the recent Nene event and we know from the photographers list that there were a lot of parents taking photos. It would be great if you could send us your best 2 or 3. We will try and publish as many as possible but would like to keep the gallery to a reasonable size for easy browsing. If you have some photos you would like to submit, just email: Many Thanks The YFS Team
